The Staatsoper Unter den Linden will inaugurate a new discussion series, “The Critics’ Quartet,” on June 15, 2026 at 7 p.m. in the house’s Apollo Hall.
The event is presented in collaboration with rbb Radio3 and takes place alongside the Berlin company’s new production of Mozart’s “The Abduction from the Seraglio.”
The evening will bring together a panel of four figures from German music and critical culture to compare and discuss selected recordings of the opera, examining the work and its performance history from a range of perspectives. Music and theater critic Kai Luehrs-Kaiser will moderate the discussion. Joining him are music journalist Eleonore Büning; Andreas Göbel, music editor at rbb and Artistic Director of the Ultraschall Berlin festival; and Staatsoper Director Elisabeth Sobotka.
rbb Radio3 will record the event for broadcast on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, following a live transmission of “The Abduction from the Seraglio.”
