Staatsoper Hannover Reschedules Performances in January 2022

The Staatsoper Hannover has announced that it has been forced to reschedule its performances in January 2022.

The opera house has canceled the performances of Bizet’s “Carmen” on Dec. 18 & 28, 2021, and Jan. 7 & 27, 2022. The opera was set to star Rodrigo Porras Garulo, Barno Ismatullaeva, Kiandra Howarth, Germán Olvera, Daniel Miroslaw, and Ruzana Grigorian in the title role.

Per the same press release, the Staatsoper Hannover has also canceled the matinee performance of Humperdinck’s “Hänsel und Gretel” on Dec. 26, 2021.

The opera house has upheld performances of Verdi’s “Otello” between Dec. 19, 2021 – Feb. 6, 2022, starring Barno Ismatullaeva and Kiandra Howarth as Desdemona, and Martin Muehle and Carlo Ventre in the title role. Sondheim’s musical “Sweeney Todd” will be on a repertoire between Dec. 23, 2021 – Jan. 22, 2022.

The Staatsoper Hannover was forced to close between Dec. 7 – 12, 2021 due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
