Staatsoper Hannover Announces New Intendant

The Staatsoper Hannover has named Bodo Busse as its next Intendant starting 2025-26. 

In a statement, the opera company said, “At today’s meeting, the Supervisory Board of the Lower Saxony Staatstheater Hannover GmbH has decided that Busse will take over the intention of the State Opera Hannover starting from 2025-26. Vasco Boenisch will take over the management of the Schauspiel Hannover at the same time, to whom we would like to congratulate.”

Busse’s contract will be for an initial five seasons.

Busse, who is currently the General Intendent of the Saarland State Theatre said in a statement, “I look forward to being able to help shape the dynamic and creative spaces of opera, ballet and concert. Right now, more than ever, we need the freedom of the emotional, poetic, sensual and discursive power of the stage to make the diversity of different designs of life, generations and identities visible.”
