By Francisco Salazar

The Spoleto Festival is set to present “Two Wings: The Music of Black America in Migration.”

The concert will be showcased on June 11 at the College of Charleston Cistern Yard and will feature a range of artistic guests including the Grammy-nominated chamber music ensemble Imani Winds, writer and director Julie Dash, and rising star vocalist Sharón Clark alongside pianist and MacArthur Fellow Jason Moran and famed mezzo-soprano Alicia Hall Moran.

The program will delve into the performers’ own family’s journeys and weave together music and stories from this historic movement. The concert will also highlight the population shift between 1910 and 1970 which saw a passage of roughly six million African Americans from the rural South to points north and west.

The Spoleto Festival is set to be presented between May 28 and June 11.
