The ABAO Bilbao Opera has announced that Sus Majestades los Reyes, Don Felipe VI and Doña Letizia will attend the third performance of Puccini’s “Il Trittico” on Nov. 29.

It will mark the first time that the King attends the ABAO Bilbao Opera. The performance will celebrate the 100 years of Puccini’s death.

The evening will also see the board of directors in attendance as well as press, institution representatives, and personalities from the administrative, educational, political, and cultural sectors.

“Il Trittico” will open on Nov. 23 and marks the first time the Bilbao Opera presents the famed operas. “Il Tabarro” will star Carlos Álvarez as Michele, Ángeles Blancas as Giorgetta, and Marco Berti as Luigi as well as Ioan Hotea, Sofía Esparza, Ana Ibarra, Igor Peral, Stefano Palatchi, and Josu Cabrero. Meanwhile, “Suor Angelica” will star Chiara Isotton and Karita Mattila. The third opera “Gianni Schicchi” will star Carlos Álvarez, Sofía Esparza, Ioan Hotea, and Ana Ibarra. Pedro Halffter conducts the production.
