Soprano Olivia Warburton & Conductor Finnegan Downie Dear Present ‘Sundays at Six’ Recital Series

Award-winning soprano Olivia Warburton is set to team up with Mahler Competition-winning conductor/pianist Finnegan Downie Dear in a continuation of their “Sundays at Six” live-streamed virtual recital series.

Founded by Warburton in March 2020, the Berlin-based duo has presented 15 recitals to date, performing music ranging from traditional arias to art songs and Broadway tunes.

“During this incredibly difficult and isolating time, I wanted to create an international community with which I could continue to share my love of art song, opera, jazz, and musical theatre,” Warburton stated.

The “Sundays at Six” April lineup is as follows.

Sunday, April 18 at 6:00 P.M. GMT: A recital of Songs for Spring with Warburton and Downie Dear.

Sunday, April 25 at 6:00 P.M. GMT: A recital of songs by composers including Britten, Strauss, and Fauré featuring Warburton, Downie Dear, and harpist Olivia Jageurs.

Sunday, May 2 at 6:00 P.M. GMT: A trip down Broadway featuring Warburton, Downie Dear, and pianist & broadway vocal coach Cameron Richardson-Eames

Warburton is a First International Haydn Competition prize winner, and will make her Nevill Holt Opera debut this summer as Zerlina in Mozart’s “Don Giovanni.” Her recent engagements include her debut at the Händel-Festspiele Halle, George Benjamin’s “A Mind of Winter,” with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, and John Adams’ “Grand Pianola Music” under the baton of the composer. As a recitalist, Warburton has performed at Wigmore Hall, the Oxford Lieder Festival, The Queen’s Gallery, Buckingham Palace, and the Aldeburgh Festival.

Downie Dear won the 2020 Mahler Competition, leading a final concert which included the world premiere of Miroslav Srnka’s “move 04 ‘Memory Full’” and Mahler Symphony No. 4with soloist Barbara Hannigan. His recent operatic engagements include his debut at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, conducting “Alice’s Adventures Under Ground” (Gerald Barry). Future plans include “Rigoletto” at the Royal Swedish Opera, “The Turn of the Screw” at the Deutsche Staatsoper Berlin, and “Eugene Onegin” at Oper Frankfurt.
