The Orchestre classique de Montréal will present a Black History Month concert on Thursday, Feb. 5, 2026, at 7:30 p.m. at Salle Pierre-Mercure.

The performance will be headlined by Canadian-Haitian soprano Marie-Josée Lord and Panamanian American conductor Kalena Bovell.

The program highlights works by composers of African descent, including William Grant Still and Florence Price. The second half of the concert is devoted to “Honey and Rue,” a song cycle by André Previn with texts by Toni Morrison.

Lord began her career in 2003 at Opéra de Québec in “Turandot” and has since appeared in leading roles such as Mimì in “La Bohème,” Laoula in “L’Étoile,” the title role in “Suor Angelica,” Nedda in “I Pagliacci,” Meg Page in “Falstaff,” and Serena in “Porgy and Bess.” She has also appeared in the original operatic production of “Starmania.”

The event will be presented by TD Bank Group.
