Paavo Järvi Appointed Chief Conductor of London Philharmonic

The London Philharmonic has announced that Paavo Järvi will be the orchestra’s Chief Conductor & Artistic Advisor.

Järvi will take over the position during the 2028-29 season and will succeed Edward Gardner, who will conclude his time as Principal Conductor at the end of the 2027-28 season.

Järvi is Chief Conductor and Music Director of Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich, Artistic Director of Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, Artistic Director and Founder of the Estonian Festival Orchestra and Artistic Advisor and Founder of the Pärnu Music Festival & Järvi Academy.

He has also worked with such leading orchestras as Malmö Symphony, Cincinnati Symphony, Frankfurt Radio Symphony, Tokyo’s NHK Symphony and the Orchestre de Paris, where he was music director from 2010-16.
