Sonya Yoncheva Reveals Two New Roles for 2021-22 Season

Sonya Yoncheva has announced she will sing two new roles next season.

The soprano took to social media to announce that she will sing the role of Cio-Cio San at the Royal Opera House and she will make her role debut as Anna Bolena at the Theatre des Champs-Elysee.

She also noted that she will make her Gran Teatre del Liceu debut in the title role of “Norma,” a role she performed at the Royal Opera House to great acclaim.

The news comes as theaters are starting to announce their 2021-22 seasons. The Liceu announced its complete season on May 12 while the Champs-Elysee is set to announce on May 19 and the Royal Opera will announce full details in June. Yoncheva is also set to perform at the Metropolitan Opera in a new production of “Don Carlos” and will also perform “Iolanta” at the Baden Baden Festival.
