‘Siberia’ with Sonya Yoncheva to Be Streamed from Maggio Musicale Fiorentino

The Maggio Musicale Fiorentino is set to stream Giordano’s “Siberia.”

The production by Roberto Andò and led by Sonya Yoncheva will be streamed on CueTV on July 7, 2021. Gianandrea Noseda will conduct the rarely performed work with a cast that also stars Giorgi Sturua, George Petean, Caterina Piva, and Giorgio Misseri.

“Siberia” made its world premiere at the Teatro alla Scala in 1903 with Rosina Storchio, Giovanni Zenatello, and Giuseppe De Luca with Cleofonte Campanini conducting.

Yoncheva previously sang a concert performance of the work with the Festival Radio France in Montpellier and is set to perform it at the Teatro Real de Madrid during the 2021-22 season.

“Siberia” is set to open on July 7 and will run through July 16, 2021.
