Semperoper Dresden Announces Cast Change For ‘Der Rosenkavalier’

The Semperoper Dresden has announced a cast change for its Oct. 12, 2019 performance of “Der Rosenkavalier.”

The company announced that Christof Fischesser will sing Baron Ochs auf Lerchenau in the performance replacing Albert Pesendorfer.

Fischesser launched his operatic career at the Badisches Staatstheater in Karlsruhe and was a member of the Opernhaus Zurich for several years. He has performed leading roles at leading opera houses in London, Vienna, Paris, Lyon, Berlin, Munich, Dresden, Houston and Chicago. He has also performed at such festivals as Salzburg Festival and the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence. This season he is scheduled to perform at the Royal Opera House, Bayerische Staatsoper, Staatsoper Hamburg, and Theater an der Wien.

The bass joins a cast of distinguished singers, including Rachel Willis-Sorensen, Christina Bock, Martin Gantner, and Nikola Hillebrand. Nikolaj Szeps-Znaider conducts the production by Uwe Eric Laufenberg.

Pesendorfer is scheduled to return for performances on Oct. 17, 26, and 31.
