Sasha Cooke, John Holiday, Liv Redpath, Leah Hawkins, Mario Chang Headline San Francisco Symphony’s 2024-25 Season

The San Francisco Symphony has announced its 2024-25 season. Here is a rundown of the vocal performances on offer.

Joe Hisaishi conducts a concert of music from the films of Hayao Miyazaki. The concert will feature the participation of the San Francisco Symphony Chorus.

Performance Dates: Sept. 5 – 8, 2024

Esa-Pekka Salonen conducts Verdi’s Requiem with Leah Hawkins, Karen Cargill, Mario Chang, and Eric Owens as the soloists.

Performance Dates: Sept. 21, 2024

Liv Redpath and Michael Sumuel headline a performance of Fauré’s requiem. Kazuki Yamada conducts. Also on the program is the first San Francisco Symphony performance of Dai Fujikura’s “Entwine” and Ravel’s Piano Concerto.

Performance Dates: Nov. 15 – 17, 2024

Soprano Lucy Crowe sings arias by Mozart. Bernard Labadie conducts.

Performance Dates: Nov. 21 – 23, 2024

Stephen Stubbs conducts Händel’s “Messiah.” Soloists include Amanda Forsythe, John Holiday, and Douglas Williams.

Performance Dates: Dec. 6 & 7, 2024

Soprano Susanna Phillips, tenor Arnold Livinston Geis, and baritone Will Liverman perform “Carmina Burana.” David Robertson conducts the concert, which also includes “After the Fall” by John Adams.

Performance Dates: Jan. 16 – 19, 2025

Esa-Pekka Salonen conducts Mahler’s Symphony No. 2. Sasha Cooke is one of the soloists.

Performance Dates: June 12 – 14, 2025
