Santa Fe Opera has announced cast and creative team changes for its 2021 season, which opens on July 10, 2021.

The company announced that Laurie Feldman will be taking over the production of “The Marriage of Figaro,” based on a concept by Laurent Pelly who will be unable to direct the opera due to travel restrictions.

Additionally, the company announced that Lighting designer Rick Fisher will replace Matt Haskins in “Eugene Onegin.” Haskins will be unable to travel Santa Fe due to travel restrictions.

Other artists who will be unable to travel to Santa Fe due to international restrictions include Ashley Riches, Étienne Dupuis, and Nicole Car. OperaWire previously reported on the replacements for these artists.

“I believe in people and art, not their nationalities. At the end we are all one of the same. Singers, artists, humans. Italian kids want to sing at The Met and Mexican kids dream of La Scala. Art is universal. With no borders,” Says Chief Artistic Officer David Lomelí in a press release.

The company had 13 foreign artists contracted for the 2021 season.
