Santa Fe Opera has announced that Nicholas Brownlee will be singing the role of Figaro in its upcoming production of “The Marriage of Figaro.”

The bass-baritone will replace Ashley Riches, who will be unable to make it due to international travel restrictions. Brownlee has performed with SFO as the First Soldier in Daniel Slater’s production of “Salome,” and as Don Fernando in Stephen Wadsworth’s production of “Fidelio” with conductor Harry Bicket.

Laurent Pelly’s production of this work will run from July 10 to August 27, 2021. Harry Bicket conducts a cast featuring Vanessa Vasquez as the Countess, Ying Fang as Susanna, Megan Marino as Cherubino, Samuel Dale Johnson as Count Almaviva, Patrick Carfizzi as Bartolo, Susanne Mentzer, and Lindsay Kate Brown as Marcellina, Brenton Ryan as Basilio, James Creswell as Antonio, Thomas Cilluffo as Curzio, and Cheyanne Coss as Barbarina.
