The San Francisco Opera Center and Merola Opera Program continues Schwabacher recitals for season 39 on April 12 at San Francisco’s Dianne and Tad Taube Atrium Theater in the Veterans Building.

Schwabacher’s series will feature a remarkable group of performers, including countertenor Aryeh Nussbaum Cohen, mezzo-soprano Erin Wagner, and pianists Carrie-Ann Matheson and Shawn Chang. “We will present a comprehensive program that showcases many of the styles and eras of music that I enjoy singing the most,” Cohen said.

This series features emerging artists esteemed around the world, performing a selection of song literature and new works in the intimacy of a recital. A program ranging from Jewish hymns to favorites from the American songbook will be presented.

The program will be wonderful and will delight opera lovers: Three Shakespearean songs (Come Away, Death; O Mistress Mine; Bolw, Blow, Thou Winter Wind); H. Leslie Adams- Nightsongs Prayer; Florence Price– Night; Sunset; Clara Schumann- Four Songs from Op. 13 (I stood in dark dreams; They both loved each other; Love sat down like a nightingale; The moon comes quietly and is gone); Max Janowski-Avinu Malkeinu; Maurice Ravel-Kaddish of Two Hebrew Melodies; Georg Frederic Handel-de Saul; Henri Duparac; Erroll Garner-Misty; Cole Porter.
