By Francisco Salazar

San Diego Opera has announced “Pretty in Pink,” the 2018 San Diego Opera Ball.

The event on April 7, 2018, will honor the creative and inspiring spirit of Dame Zandra Rhodes and her contributions to the Company, art form, and community. The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a cocktail hour full of fun and unexpected surprises all inspired by Zandra’s kaleidoscopic imagination. Then dinner will begin at 7:30 p.m. with the evening concluding with drinks and dancing. It will be a pink tie event.

Dame Rhodes began her relationship with San Diego Opera when she designed the costumes for the 2001 production of “The Magic Flute” and later in 2004 designed both the sets and costumes for “The Pearl Fishers.” She was also responsible for the sets for a production of “Aida”  which was co-commissioned for the English National Opera and Houston Grand Opera and was later showcased at San Diego.
