By David Salazar

Resonance Works has announced a partnership with Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank for its 2026-27 season.

The partnership will include food drives at Resonance Works performances throughout the season and a kit packing event in October supporting the Food Bank’s Child Nutrition program. Volunteer opportunities will allow community members to work alongside Resonance Works staff and artists at the Food Bank this winter. There will also be panel discussions ahead of the company’s January performances of “the little match girl passion.”

The first food drive will take place on Sunday, Sept. 27, at the company’s season opening concert, “An Anchor in Time,” at 3 p.m. at the Andrew Carnegie Free Library and Music Hall.

“Music creates community through shared experiences, and Resonance Works is excited to continue going a step further by amplifying the work of service organizations like Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank. It’s an incredible opportunity for our staff, artists, and supporters to help our neighbors,” said Maria Sensi Sellner, Artistic and General Director of Resonance Works, per an official press release.

“At Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, ‘community’ is in our name because eliminating hunger is something we all do together,” added Jennifer Zgurich, Director of Corporate and Community Engagement at the Food Bank. “We are excited to partner with Resonance Works to use the power of live music, performance and community action to ensure our neighbors have the food and resources they need to thrive.”

Founded in 1980, Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank serves families living with food insecurity across 11 counties in the region and distributes nearly 54 million meals each year.
