The Boston Lyric Opera is set to present Bela Bartók’s “Bluebeard’s Castle” and Alma Mahler’s “Four Songs.”

The double bill, which is set to be directed by Anne Bogart, will mark the director’s return to the company since 2019 when she directed Poul Ruder’s “The Handmaid’s Tale” and became one of BLO’s best-attended and most-acclaimed productions.

The production of “Bluebeard’s Castle/Four Songs” is set to star American bass-baritone Ryan McKinny as Bluebeard and Irish mezzo-soprano Naomi Louisa-O’Connell (l.) as Judith. BLO Music Director David Angus conducts the performances and noted that he found a recently revised orchestration for Bartók’s opera created in 2020 by German conductor Eberhard Kloke. The new version will make its New England premiere with this production.

The Boston Lyric Opera will present the double bill between March 22 and 26 with an intimate audience experience installed inside the Flynn Cruiseport Boston.
