Royal Opera House Wins Olivier Award

The Royal Opera House has won the Oliver Award for its production of “Billy Budd.”

The production by Deborah Warner took home the Best Opera Production beating out “Berenice” from the ROH, “Hansel and Gretel” from the ENO, and “Noyle’s Fludde” from the Theatre Royal Stratford.

Meanwhile, The Children’s Ensemble from the Theatre Royal Stratford received Best Achievement in Opera for its contribution to “Noye’s Fludde.” The ensemble beat out the Jette Parker Young Artists from the Royal Opera’s productions of “Berenice,” “Death in Venice,” and “Phaedra” and Martyn Babbins and James Henshaw for their work in “The Mask of Orpheus” at the ENO.

The Olivier Awards were announced on Oct. 25 in a special program hosted by Jason Manford and broadcast on ITV and Magic Radio.
