Roberto Alagna Awarded The Title Of Officer Of Légion d’Honneur

France has announced the traditional New Year’s list of honors.

La Grande Chancellerie de la Légion d’honneur has published the full list of recipients. Among those awarded is the celebrated tenor Roberto Alagna, thus becoming the Officer of Légion d’honneur .

The famed tenor recently debuted the title role of Wagner’s “Lohengrin” at the Staatsoper Berlin. He has performed at the world’s greatest opera houses, including the Metropolitan Opera House, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Teatro alla Scala, Wiener Staatsoper, Opéra National de Paris, Bayerische Staatsoper, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Staatsoper unter der Linden, Gran Teatre del Liceu, Opéra de Marseille, and Teatro Massimo di Palermo, among others.

Roberto Alagna is scheduled to return to the stage in the role of Turiddu and Canio in the double bill of Mascagni and Leoncavallo’s operas “Cavalleria Rusticana” and “Pagliacci” at the Staatsoper Hamburg in March 2021. He is also set to perform the role of Mario Cavaradossi in Puccini’s “Tosca” at the Opéra National de Paris in May 2021, alongside soprano Aleksandra Kurzak in the title role.
