By Francisco Salazar

U.S. Conductor Robert Treviño is suing the Euskadiko Orkestra after being fired from the orchestra as Music Director this past January.

According to the lawsuit, the conductor is also suing the Department of Culture in the Vasco government for terminating his contract without warning.

Treviño was dismissed from his position on Jan. 27, 2025, alongside the Artistic Director. According to the press release, the decision was made so the orchestra could change directions and obtain a fresh start for the orchestra so it can continue to grow.

Treviño became the Music Director of the orchestra in 2017. This season, he is set to conduct the Filarmonica Arturo Toscanini, Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana, Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra, and Filarmonica della Scala, among many others.
