
Euskadiko Orkestra’s Artistic Director & General Director to Leave
By Francisco SalazarThe board of directors of the Euskadiko Orkestra has announced that it is ending Robert Treviño’s tenure as Artistic Director.
The board announced the news on Jan. 27 and noted that Treviño’s eight years with the orchestra were fruitful and important. The board noted that the conductor toured with the orchestra to important venues like the Theatre Camps Elysees and Salzburg and recorded albums for Ondine. They added that the orchestra has become one of the most important in the world.
According to the press release, the decision was made so the orchestra could change directions and to obtain a fresh start for the orchestra so it can continue to grow.
The board also announced that General Director Oriol Roch will leave his post after 10 years with the orchestra. Under his leadership, the orchestra obtained important alliances and helped to expand the repertoire. He also led the orchestra into the digital age.
