
Opera na Zamku Names Waldemar Dąbrowski as Chairman of Program Council of Szczecin
By Afton MarkayWaldemar Dąbrowski, a former Polish Minister of Culture and Director of Polish National Opera, has been elected Chairman of the newly established Program Council of Szczecin.
In 2025, the West Pomeranian Voivodeship Assembly established the Program Council. The Council is charged with advising the director on shaping the repertoire and artistic projects, aiding in securing additional funding, and promoting the Szczecin scene in Poland and abroad. Bogdan Jaroszewicz, a member of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship Board, stated in a press release that, “the Voivodeship Board unanimously approved the composition of the Council.”
Following the inaugural meeting, Dąbrowski accepted the chairmanship. Serving on the Council with Dąbrowski are Barbara Halec, Barbara Wiśniewska, Joanna Tylkowska-Drożdż, Krzysztof Buszczyk, Krzysztof Zieliński, Marcin Woźniak. Monika Myśliwiec, and Vladimir Kiradjiev.
Outside of his role in politics, Dąbrowski has foundered several cultural institutions, managed art organizations, and produced over 70 plays at the Studio Theatre, many of which toured internationally, showcasing leading Polish theatre, music, and visual artists. He is graduate of the Department of Electronics at the Warsaw University of Technology. Dąbrowski also completed the Executive Program for Leadership Development at Harvard University.
The next Program Council meeting is scheduled for June 20.
