Tenor Arturo Chacón-Cruz will no longer be appearing in the Barrie Kosky’s production of Offenbach‘s “Les Contes d’Hoffmann” at the Komische Oper Berlin.

As a result, tenor Ric Furman will take over his performances, and will sing the entire run. Furman joins a cast that includes Sydney Mancasola as the Four Heroines, Andrew Foster-Williams as the Four Villains, and Karolina Gumos as La Muse / La mère d’Antonia. The cast also includes Ivan Turšić as Andrès/Spalanzani/ Pitichinaccio, and Philipp Meierhöfer as Cochenille/Crespel/Peter Schlémil. Alevtina Ioffe conducts.

Furman is a well known tenor who has performed at the Deutsches Nationaltheater Weimar, Staatstheater Magdeburg, Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden, Scottish Opera, Tiroler Landestheater, Oper Leipzig, Cincinnati Opera, and Seattle Opera, among others.

Chacón-Cruz is scheduled to return to the stage for performances of Bizet’s “Carmen” at the Teatro di Reggio Emilia in January 2022.

The run of “Les Contes d’Hoffmann” at the Komische Oper Berlin begins on Jan. 8, 2022, and is set to end on March 13, 2022.
