The Roy and Edna Disney Calarts Theater (REDCAT) will present the premiere of a new work by San Cha.

The experimental opera, titled “Inebria Me,” adapts San Cha’s album “La Luz de la Esperanza” into a work that subverts heteronormative archetypes of classic telenovelas. The story explores the life of Dolores, a woman of humble means who, after marrying the wealthy Salvador, becomes inspired by Esperanza, “a genderless being of light and empowerment who helps her reclaim her freedom and self-worth.”

The opera fuses ranchera, cumbia, mariachi, punk, electro, and classical music. San Cha will perform alongside Darian Donovan Thomas, stefa marin alarcon, Lu Coy, Kyle Kidd, Carolina Oliveros, and Phong Tran.

The performances take place Oct. 16-18, 2025. There will be a post-show Q & A following the Oct. 17, 2025 performance. The opera will be presented in Spanish with English supertitles.
