Plácido Domingo has withdrawn from his upcoming performances at the Royal Opera House in Verdi’s “Don Carlo.”

Per a press release, the break was mutual, though the Royal Opera House has stated that there were no claims of misconduct from the famed singer during his time with the company.

“Plácido is an outstanding singer and artist and we are hugely grateful for his support and commitment over many decades.  We will announce the casting for his role in ‘Don Carlo’ in due course,” added the press release.

Domingo has also withdrawn from all of his previously scheduled performances in Spain. He is still set to appear in “Don Carlo” at the Mariinsky Theatre later this year as well as a production of “Simon Boccanegra” in Hamburg.

The cast for “Don Carlo” on July 13-19, 2020 is set to star Michael Fabiano, Hilba Gerzmava, Elina Garanca, and Ferruccio Furlanetto.
