Plácido Domingo has postponed his upcoming Mexico concerts due to COVID-19.

The Arena Ciudad de Mexico noted that due to the rapid spread of the virus, the 81-year-old singer would not be able to travel over to Mexico.

However, Domingo did announce new dates for the concerts. The Ciudad de México concert will be held on August 16, 2022, while the Monterrey, Nuevo León showcase will be performed on August 19, 2022. Ticketholders will be able to use their old tickets for the new dates.

Domingo was originally set to perform in February and would mark the first time the tenor sings in Mexico since 2009

The singer is still slated to sing at the Teatro Massimi di Palermo in February 2022 for performances of “Simon Boccanegra and will return to Paris for a concert performance of “I Due Foscari.”
