Plácido Domingo has been hospitalized for COVID-19 in Acapulco, Mexico.

The singer’s spokesperson released a message stating, “His condition is stable and he will remain in the hospital as long as the doctors find it necessary until a hoped-for full recovery.”

Earlier this week it was reported that he had tested positive for COVID-19 stating, “I feel it is my moral duty to announce to you that I have tested positive for COVID19, the Coronavirus. My Family and I are all in self isolation for as long as it is deemed medically necessary. Currently we are all in good health but I experienced fever and cough symptoms therefore deciding to get tested and the result came back positive.”

A few days after announcing the news he thanked his fans stating, “I’m very grateful and moved by the outpour of messages that I have received from so many people. Thank you very much from all my heart.”

Domingo also advised audiences to stay at home.
