The Phoenicia International Festival of the Voice has announced an innovative, collaborative 2021 season that will expand on its groundbreaking production of “Tosca,” the first drive-in opera production in the United States in Kingston, NY.

The Phoenicia International Festival of the Voice will team up with the New York City Opera and Teatro Grattacielo for two operatic productions.

The Phoenicia International Festival of the Voice will present Leoncavallo’s “Pagliacci,” directed by General Director Maria Todaro and conducted by Music director David Wroe. Errin Brooks will star as Canio and will be joined by Marcelina Beucher in the role of Nedda, Troy Cook in the role of Tonio, and Matthew Gamble as Silvio.

Performance Date: August 28, 2021

Teatro Grattacielo will perform a 90 minute version of Mascagni’s “L’amico Fritz.” The production will be directed by Malena Dayen and Stefanos Koroneos with projection artwork design by Lupe Marin, lighting by Jon DeGaetano, and conducted by Felipe Tristan. Sangmin Chae will be the live feed and projections manager.

Performance Date: August 27, 2021

The New York City Opera will perform a 90-minute version of Verdi’s “Rigoletto“ featuring Michael Chioldi in the title role, Brandie Sutton as his daughter Gilda and Won Whi Choi as the Duke of Mantua.  The production will be staged by NYCO General Director Michael Capasso and will feature narration written and performed by Bill Van Horn.
