Pascale Spinney & Daniel Gallegos Headline Academy of Vocal Arts’ Farewell Recital

The Academy of Vocal Arts has announced its 2021 Farewell Recital.

The showcase, which is set to stream between May 8-12, 2021, on the institution’s official website, will be headlined by mezzo-soprano Pascale Spinney and baritone Daniel Gallegos, who will be joined by music director and pianist José Meléndez. The two will perform music by Rossini, Strauss, Grever, Velázquez, Brahms, Torroba, Bellini, Chabrier, Ravel, Tosti, and Mozart.

Spinney, a Québec native, has studied at McGill University and was a finalist at the 2018 Meistersinger Competition in Graz and a 2017 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions National Semi-finalist. She also received prizes from the Gerda Lissner Foundation and Vancouver Opera Foundation.

Gallegos hails from Chihuahua, México, was a 2019 Meistersinger Competition finalist and a 2021 District Winner at the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions.

This is the latest online showcase presented by the Academy of Vocal Arts following “Jubilate!” and “Verlaine, Le Voyage Humain.
