Academy of Vocal Arts to Celebrate Spring & French Poetry with ‘Verlaine, Le Voyage Humain’ Recital

By Logan Martell

On April 24, 2021, Academy of Vocal Arts will present “Verlaine, Le Voyage Humain,” a spring recital of French composers such as Boulanger, Chausson, Deodat de Severac, and more.

Among the soloists are soprano Aubry Ballaro, mezzo-soprano Pascale Spinney, baritone Benjamin Dickerson, and bass Peter Barber. They will be accompanied by Music Director Audrey Saint-Gil.

The recital will feature works which set the poetry of famous French writer Paul Verlaine to music. The program is comprised of selections such as Reynaldo Hahn’s “Chanson d’automne,” and “L’heure exquise,” Poldowski’s “Cythere” and “Spleen,” Vierne’s “A une femme” and “Marine,” and more.

The recital will be available to watch from April 24, 7:00 pm until April 28, 11:59 pm. Tickets are free, with donations being encouraged.

This is the latest concert presented by the Academy following its recent “Jubilate!” showcase that focused on the music of baroque composers.
