Pacific Opera to Present Canadian Premiere of ‘Flight’

The Pacific Opera is set to present the Canadian première of the comedic opera “Flight” starting on Feb. 20 at the Royal Theatre, 805 Broughton Street, Victoria.

The opera by Jonathan Dove and April De Angelis is inspired by the true story of a refugee who lived in an airport for 18 years and a group of strangers stuck in an airport during a storm.

The production will be directed by Morris Panych and Ken MacDonald with Sharleen Joynt as the Controller, William Towers as the Refugee, Allyson McHardy as the  Minskwoman, Neil Craighead as the Minskman, Emilia Boteva as the Older Woman, and Justin Welsh as the Immigration Officer.

The cast will be rounded out by John Brancy, Kimy McLaren, John Robert Lindsey and Jacqueline Woodley. Pacific Opera’s Artistic Director, Timothy Vernon, conducts.

The run of performances ends on March 1, 2020.
