The Executive Committee of Orquesta Filarmónica de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is considering the removal  of British conductor Karel Mark Chichon from his position of Chief Conductor and Artistic Director.

The move comes after a report emerged stating there was sufficient evidence of workplace harassment of the first degree committed against Isabel Turienzo, the orchestra’s head of production.

The report was made by Igualia, a company specialized in equality plans for companies. Several influencing politicians have made requests that Chichon be fired without delay.

Isabel Turienzo had filed a lawsuit for workplace harassment against Chichon, requesting compensation of 100,000 euros for “violation of fundamental rights, lack of effective employment and professional discredit.”
