#OperaHarmony was created by director Ella Marchment, who organized and oversaw the creation of these works, all of which are available for the next six months.
“#OperaHarmony started as my means to stay connected whilst entirely cut off from the profession that is both my job and hobby,” writes Marchment. “The result has been the establishment of a global community that collectively found a way – against the odds – to not only continue creating but in doing so discovered innovative new means in which to do so. It is a testament to the inventiveness, talent, drive, and creativity to those committed to opera globally, and a sign that in the time of crisis, there can still be hope for the future of this magnificent genre.”
With regards to the company’s September program, OperaVision will present a broadcast of the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet’s 2020 production of Prokofiev’s “The Gambler” starting on Sept. 11. Vasily Barkhatov directs, starring Asmik Gregorian as Polina and Dmitrj Golovnin as Alexei.
On Sept. 18, the series continues with Christof Loy’s production of Weber’s “Euryanthe” at the Theater an der Wien in Vienna.
