Operamission To Host ‘Handel Warehouse’

On June 1, Operamission will hold a “Handel Warehouse.”

The event, which will be open to the public, will be held at OPERA America’s National Opera Center.

“Handel Warehouse” will offer a host of workshops, open rehearsals, refreshments, and festivities with conductor/harpsichordist Jennifer Peterson and stage director Jeff Caldwell lead the proceedings, to be held in the Charles MacKay Studio.

Workshops in performance aspects of Handel opera will include style, ornamentation, baroque gesture (led by soprano Nell Snaidas), repertoire selection, and recitative while open rehearsals, led by Caldwell, will feature singers from Operamission’s upcoming productions of Handel’s “Il Pastor Fido” and “Teseo.”  These will be part of its ongoing series of the complete operas of G. F. Handel in order, which began with the North American premiere of “Almira” in 2012.

The entire day will be broken down into a generous selection of events.
