Opera Vermont is set to present a one-night-only performance, “Too Big for the BARN,” on Sept. 19, 2026 at the BARN OPERA House in Brandon, Vermont.

This special gala event celebrates opera bringing music to the BARN that is normally impossible to fit inside its famously intimate walls.

“Too Big for the BARN” will feature repertoire drawn entirely from operas known for massive choruses, huge orchestras, and stage logistics so grand they typically require major opera houses to produce. There will be excerpts from such works as “Il Trovatore,” “Manon Lescaut,” “Hamlet,” “Die Tode Stadt,” “Lucia di Lammermoor, “Tancredi,” “Andrea Chenier,” “Rigoletto,” “Norma” and “La Wally,” among others.

The evening’s vocal artists are well-known to Opera Vermont audiences, having been seen in previous Opera Vermont performances across the state.

The concert will be accompanied by the largest configuration of the New England Repertory Orchestra ever assembled in the BARN, making this gala not only a musical event, but a milestone moment in Opera Vermont’s ongoing mission to bring world-class opera to Vermont communities.
