
Opera Verace Foundation Announces First Breakout Stars Opera Gala
By Afton MarkayOn May 16, the Vienna Konzerthaus will host the first ever Breakout Stars Opera Gala produced by the Opera Verace Foundation.
This new series of concerts is dedicated to addressing two major challenges facing opera: aging audiences and the barriers talented singers face in the transition from training to professional careers.
Composer and conductor Alma Deutscher will lead the concert will featuring the Vienna Chamber Orchestra alongside sopranos Chelsea Zurflüh and Susanne Burgess, mezzo-soprano Anna Tetruashvili, tenor Jonghyun Park, and baritone Ricardo José Rivera. The emerging singers will performing a program of operatic arias and duets.
Opera Verace Foundation created these concerts to address a gap in the classical music ecosystem. In a press release Daniel L. Rubin, President and CEO of the Foundation said, “We founded Opera Verace because the opera world’s problem isn’t a shortage of talent – it’s a shortage of infrastructure for talent to break through. The Breakout Stars Gala is our first answer to that problem.”
The concert will be recorded for future broadcast on the Opera Verace Virtual Opera Theater platform as well as for the singer’s professional use.
