Ana Rita Coelho Wins Top Prize at Cascais Opera Competition

The Cascais Ópera Competition announced that Portuguese singer Ana Rita Coelho was the Grand Prix Édige winner.

She takes home 10,000 euros as well as a contract with the Teatro Nacional de São Carlos. Coelho also won the RTP Audience Award.

Meanwhile, the “Teresa Berganza” First Prize for best female voice was given to mezzo-soprano Anna Tetruashvili, while baritone Viktor Aksentijević was the recipient of the “Mauricio Bensaude” First Prize for best male voice.

Soprano Manhan Qi was the Second Prize winner while soprano Defne Celik took home third prize and the Prize for Best Singer under 25-years-old. The Stage Talent Award was bestowed upon soprano Oksana Pynchuk.

The final concert took place on May 4 and featured the finalists performing alongside the Portuguese Symphony Orchestra under the musical direction of conductor Antonio Pirolli.
