Opera Southwest Postpones Opening of ‘Before Night Falls’ Due to COVID

Opera Southwest has delayed the opening of Jorge Martín-Buján & Dolores M. Koch’s “Before Night Falls” on Feb. 25, 2024.

The company said that the opening performance of “Before Night Falls” has been delayed due to COVID. The new schedule will showcase the opera on March 1, 2, and 3, 2024.

The New Mexico premiere will feature a cast that includes Brian James Myer, Olga Perez Flora, Laura Leon, Spencer Britten, Radnel Ofalsa, Jacob Rivera, and Javier Ortiz. Enrique Carreón Robledo conducts the production by John de los Santos.

The opera will be produced with the New Mexico Gay Men’s Chorus (NMGMC) and the production is possible through funding with OPERA America’s Next Stage program.
