Volksoper Wien Announces 2024-25 Season

The Volksoper Wien has announced its 2024-25 season.

Premieres 

Bizet’s “Carmen” will directed by Lotte de Beer and star Katia Ledoux, Wallis Giunta, Annelie Sophie Müller, Nikolai Schukoff, Jason Kim, Josef Wagner, Daniel Schmutzhard, Iulia Maria Dan, and Hedwig Ritter. Ben Glassberg, Alexander Joel, and Tobias Wögerer.

Performance Dates: Sept. 21, 2024-May 28, 2025

Ella Milch-Sheriff’s “Alma” will star Annette Dasch, Annelie Sophie Müller, Lauren Urquhart, Christopher Ainslie, Hila Baggio, Timothy Fallon, Florian Hurler, Martin Winkler, and Josef Wagner. Omer Meir Wellber and Keren Kagarlitsky conduct the production by Anke Rauthmann.

Performance Dates: Oct. 26-Nov. 9, 2024

“Der Krieg der Knöpfe” will star Peter Lesiak, Julia Koci, Nicolaus Hagg, Florian Carove, and Helmut Stippich. Johanna Arrouas directs the new production.

Performance Dates: Nov. 10, 2024-April 24, 2025

“Im weißen Rössl” will be conducted by Michael Brandstätter and Roger Diaz-Cajamarca. The new production by Jan Philipp Gloger will star Jakob Semotan, Ursula Pfitzner, Annette Dasch, Götz Schubert, David Kerber, Oliver Liebl, Harald Schmidt, Juliette Khalil, Robert Palfrader, and Christoph Stocker.

Performance Dates: Dec. 7, 2024-June 29, 2025

Mozart and Ullmann’s double bill “Kaiser Requiem” will star Joseg Wagner, Daniel Schmutzhard, Seiyoung Kim, Junho You, Wallis Giunta, and Rebecca Nelsen. Omer Meir Wellber and Keren Kagarlitsky alternate at the podium while Andreas Heise directs.

Performance Dates: Jan. 25-March 5, 2025

Kálmán’s “Die Csárdásfürstin” will be conducted by Tobias Wögerer and Alexander Joel and directed by Johannes Erath. The production will star  Daniel Schmutzhard, Juliette Khalil, Lukas Watzl, Jakob Semotan, Florian Carove, Marco Di Sapia, Karl-Michael Ebner, Daniel Ohlenschläger, Kurt Schreibmayer, Annette Dasch, David Kerber, and Ursula Pfitzner.

Performance Dates: March 8-May 3, 2025

Stephen Sondheim and James Goldman’s “Follies” will be conducted by Ben Glassberg and directed by Martin G. Berger. The cast will include Ruth Brauer-Kvam, Drew Sarich, Bettina Mönch, Peter Lesiak, Juliette Khalil, Oliver Liebl, Julia Koci, Sona MacDonald, Martina Dorak, Ulrike Steinsky, Alexandra Flood, and Aaron-Casey Gould.

Performance Dates: April 12-May 27, 2025

“Nurejews Hund” will star Florian Carove, Jakob Semotan, Ursula Pfitzner, and Mila Schmidt. Keren Kagarlitsky conducts the production by Florian Hurler.

Performance Dates: April 27-June 13, 2025

Jonathan Dove’s “Das verzauberte Schwein” will be conducted by Michael Papadopoulos and will star Mira Alkhovik, Hannah Fheodoroff, Camila Aguilera, Seiyoung Kim, Trevor Haumschilt-Rocha, and Smelo Mahlangu.

Performance Date: May 4, 2025

Ben Glassberg and Michael Papadopoulos conduct Mozart’s “Le Nozze di Figaro” in a production by Lotte de Beer. The production will star Daniel Schmutzhard, Michael Arivony, Matilda Sterby, Theresa Dax, Lauren Urquhart, Annelie Sophie Müller, Pablo Santa Cruz, and Sofia Vinnik.

Performance Dates: May 24-June 28, 2025

“Kreationen” is the final new production.
