Opera Saratoga has announced that it will join forces with artists from The Juilliard School to present “America Sings” this April.

The recital series will kick off on Feb. 4 with “The Heart’s Mirro,” which includes music by Robert Schumann, Jacques Ibert, H. Leslie Adams, Lori Laitman, Gabriel Kahane, W.A. Mozart, Frank Loesser, Charles Strouse, Jason Robert Brown, Irving Berlin, and Jerry Herman. Baritone Shavon Lloyd and pianist Francesco Barfoed headline the program.

Then on April 7, tenor César Andres Parreño and pianist Liza Armistead deliver “Latinidad: a Tour of South America.” The program features music by Ponce, Guastavino, Guevara, Violeta Parra, Chía Patiño, Santoro, Villa-Lobos, and Ginastera.

Both performances of the “America Sings” series will take place at Caffè Lena in Saratoga Springs.

Editor’s note (1/24/24): The former title of this article suggested that the Juilliard School was involved in the presentation of this program. That is incorrect and the title has been altered to reflect this. The remainder of the article remains unchanged.
