
Opera San Luis Obispo to Present ‘The Mikado’
By David SalazarOpera San Luis Obispo will present Gilbert & Sullivan’s “The Mikado” on Oct. 17 and 18, 2026 at 2 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center San Luis Obispo.
The production will feature the OperaSLO Grand Orchestra, conducted by Maestro Brian Asher Alhadeff. Stage direction is by Marcy Irving, with choreography by Drew Silvaggio.
“This is not simply a production — it’s an experience,” said Alhadeff, per an official press release. “You haven’t truly experienced live theatre until you’ve seen it produced at this scale. The Mikado will thrill, delight, and surprise audiences from the first note to the final curtain.”
The production is developed in artistic collaboration with Central Coast Gilbert & Sullivan and Civic Ballet San Luis Obispo.
Opera San Luis Obispo recently earned two Gold awards in The Tribune’s “Best of the Central Coast 2026” for Live Theater and Arts & Cultural Event.
