Madison Sounds will present soprano Olga Makarina in recital on April 24 at Madison Avenue Baptist Church in New York City.

Titled “North–South Express,” the program traces a musical journey across Europe, drawing on vocal works from Finland, Sweden, Russia, Austria, Hungary, Italy, France, and Spain.

Azamat Sydykov, Minister of Music and Director of Education and Public Programs at Madison Avenue Baptist Church, joins Makarina at the piano.

A laureate of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, Makarina made her New York City Opera debut less than a year after winning the competition, taking the title role in Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor. She went on to perform for 18 seasons at the Metropolitan Opera and has appeared at some of the world’s leading houses, including Teatro Colón, Gran Teatre del Liceu, the Mariinsky Theatre, Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, and Palacio de Bellas Artes.

Makarina previously led a masterclass at Madison Avenue Baptist Church back on Feb. 8, 2026.
