On July 22, 2023, Opera Orlando will open their third annual Summer Institute for the Next Generation of Singers, or SINGS!.

Running until July 29, the week-long intensive is geared towards singers aged 15-20 who want to pursue a career singing classical music. There will be group and individual coaching from company staff and artists, as well as headshot and resume building, yoga classes, vocal health seminars, vocal anatomy lessons, and more.

Students will also take part in a masterclass held by Grammy Award-winning baritone Gabriel Preisser. The intensive culminates in a final, public concert, followed by a reception for the students, their parents, and the audience.

“Opera Orlando developed this program to be an informative and professional-level week of training to help young singers navigate and prepare for college auditions, while also giving them insight into how best to build a lifelong career in classical music,” says education director Sarah Purser. “I am looking forward to the singers achieving their own personal goals, improving their musicianship, and gaining the confidence needed to take steps toward pursuing careers in the arts.”
