Opera MODO Names New Executive Director

By David Salazar

Detroit’s Opera MODO has appointed Katrina Fasulo as its Executive Director. She will assume her new role in January 2024.

Fasulo, who has a background as a singer and studied at the University of Michigan School of Music, has worked in administration with such companies as Seattle Opera, Seattle Symphony, Opera Saratoga, Opera NexGen, and Loft Opera.

“I am deeply honored to join the Opera MODO team. Opera MODO is well-known for its dedication to innovation, inclusivity, and artistic excellence,” said Fasulo in an official press statement issued by the company. “The nimbleness of this company, and its rapport in the industry for creating out-of-the-box artistic experiences greatly excites me.”

The company also revealed that as a result of the change, Danielle Wright will now take over as to Artistic Director, while Dr. Steven McGhee remains as the company’s Music Director and Diane Schoff joins as Managing Director.
