Opera Hong Kong Reveals Cast For ‘Cavalleria Rusticana’ & ‘Pagliacci’

Opera Hong Kong is set to present the famed double bill of “Cavalleria Rusticana” and “Pagliacci” on August 25 and 25 at the Hong Kong City Hall’s Concert venue.

The production will be showcased under the direction of Enrico Castiglione and maestro Gianluca Martinenghi.

Castiglione is the Founder and Artistic Director of such events as the Taormina Opera Festival. Other recent productions include “Pagliacci” at the Daegu Opera House, “Manon Lescaut” at the Teatru tal-Opra Aurora, “Aida” at the Greek National Opera, “Mefistofele” at the Teatro di Pisa, and “Tosca” at Opera Hong Kong.

Martinenghi is the chief conductor of the Macedonian National Theatre.

The cast for “Cavalleria Rusticana” will include Dominique Chan and Bobbie Zhan alternating as Santuzza. Chen Chen will be Turiddu while Ivy Mak will be Lucia. Song-Hu Liu will be Alfio and Emily Liu will be Lol.

As for “Pagliacci,” that cast will include Hao Xingwa as Canio, Sun Li as Tonio, Chen Yong as Beppe, Song-Hu Liu as Silvio, and Louise Kwong and Li Yang alternating as Nedda.
