U.K.’s Opera Greenwich will make its debut with a production of “Suor Angelica” at St. Alfege Church in Greenwich.

The production, which will be directed by Valeria Perboni and conducted by Dominic Veall, is scheduled for August 19, 2023; there will be two shows – one at 5 p.m. and another at 8 p.m. local time.

The opera will star as Emily Sloan as Suor Angelica, Rhian Davies as La Zia Principessa, Eleanor Kemp as La Badessa, Luca Kocsmárszky as Zelatrice, Lizzie Hawes as La Maestra delle Novizie, Anna Marmion as Suor Genovieffa, Alicia Mallace-Goulbourne as Suor Osmina, Rosie Taylor as Suor Dolcina, Salome Siu as Sorella Infermiera and Antonia Thwaites as Suor Lucilla.

Per an official press statement issued by the company, “Opera Greenwich are a Greenwich based theatre company, aiming to bring accessible and immersive productions to the local community. The choice of ‘Suor Angelica’ as the headline production for Opera Week has been driven by the necessity to offer a shorter opera, as an introduction to the art-form for those  new to it, as well as a chance to see this less often performed masterpiece by Puccini.”
