Opera Domani to Present ‘Rigoletto’ in 2026
By Francisco SalazarOpera Domani has announced it will present “Rigoletto” in 2026.
Giulio Arnofi will conduct the work for AsLiCo’s long-running educational initiative that brings opera to theatres and schools across Italy, engaging thousands of children and young people each year.
In a statement, Arnofi said, “I’m truly honoured and excited to have been selected to lead the next Opera domani project. AsLiCo and Opera domani have nurtured so many artists who have gone on to build remarkable careers and I can’t wait to start this journey which will take us across Italy and show just how inspiring and enjoyable classical music and opera can be, not only for adults but for younger audiences too.”
The edition will be significant, marking the 30th anniversary of the project with a double bill that combines tradition and innovation. Alongside the newly commissioned contemporary opera “Piccolo Orso e la montagna di ghiaccio” by Giovanni Sollima, “Rigoletto” returns to the stage after its 2020 tour was halted by the pandemic. The work is reimagined for young audiences aged 6 to 14. It will be shown across Italy, including Como, Varese, Mantua, Bergamo, Vigevano, Piacenza, Pavia, Vicenza, Pordenone, Bolzano, Parma, Milan, Cremona, Fermo, Ascoli, Trento, and Brescia.
