The Opéra de Toulon has announced that it will present the performances of Puccini’s “La Bohème” scheduled between Jan. 30 – Feb. 4, 2022 in a concert form due to ongoing concerns over COVID-19.

The opera will star Adriana González in the role of Mimì, Mariam Battistelli as Musetta, Davide Giusti in the role of Rodolfo, Devid Cecconi as Marcello, Jean-Luc Ballestra as Schaunard, Nika Guliashvili as Colline, and François Harismendy in the double role of Benoît and Alcindoro. Valerio Galli conducts.

The Opéra de Toulon was forced to cancel the presentations of Johann Strauss’ popular operetta “Die Fledermaus” between Dec. 29 – 31, 2021 due to a COVID-19 outbreak in the opera house.

France is undergoing a massive wave of COVID-19 driven by the Delta and Omicron variants. The country logged new 271,686 cases on Jan. 3, 2022, setting a pandemic record.
