Opéra de Paris Announces Cast Change for ‘Lohengrin’

The Opéra de Paris has announced a cast change for its performance of “Lohengrin” on Oct. 11, 2023.

The company said, “Piotr Beczala, unwell, has withdrawn from the performance of ‘Lohengrin.’ As a result, the title role will be performed by Klaus Florian Vogt.”

Beczala also took to social media and said, “Dear friends, with regret, I must inform you that due to illness, I will not be able to perform in today’s performance of ‘Lohengrin’ at the Opéra national de Paris. I can assure you that I am undergoing treatment and doing everything in my power to be in good shape for Saturday’s performance I appreciate your support and understanding. Toi toi toi to all my colleagues!”

Vogt will join a cast that includes Sinead Cambell Wallace, Nina Stemme, Wolfgang Koch, and Shenyang. Alexander Soddy conducts a production Kirill Serebrennikov.
